How long will our Sprung Performance Arena last?

The structure is designed and engineered as a lifetime building. The rust-free aluminum substructure is guaranteed for 30 years, and the performance architectural membrane is guaranteed for 20 years. Replacing the membrane (with an expected average life span of 25 years) is similar in cost to replacing the roof of a conventional building.

Could we build a conventional metal building cheaper?

It is very unlikely that you could find a more cost-effective use of your arena-building budget, and we encourage you to see this comparison.

What is included in the price?

Your Sprung Performance Arena is a ready-to-go facility. For more details, see how it compares to other options, get an overview of the main features, view the technical specs sheets, or take the virtual tour.

What items are NOT included in the price?

Additional items such as the security system, sound system, concessions equipment (single only), score clock, data/telephone and ice resurfacer are not included.

Are design and engineering costs included?

Yes, you do not need to budget any extra for design or engineering, since they are included in the price of your Sprung Performance Arena. There will be additional costs if design and engineer services are needed on the site outside of the arena.

How much site work is included in the price?

Site work up to 3 feet from the outside of the perimeter of your Sprung Performance Arena is included.

How long will our project take to complete?

Your Sprung Performance Arena will be completed in as little as 6 months from the time construction starts. Your Sprung team has also streamlined the design and permitting process by putting together an all-in package.

Can we still hold other events like concerts and trade shows?

The concrete under your ice surface can be designed for other applications and community uses at the project start. The high open-vaulted ceiling, phenomenal acoustics and soft wall-interior provide an outstanding interior atmosphere for any large assembly.

Can we change or add to the arena in the future?

The Sprung Performance Arena is a prefabricated, modular building design that allows for easy expansion in the future. A single arena can be expanded to a twin arena at a later date, and your Sprung Performance Arena can also be designed to accommodate a mezzanine with additional seating for a nominal cost, and even a second-floor mezzanine level.

Is the building energy-efficient?

The Sprung system outperforms other types of construction methods, resulting in improved year-round ice conditions and lower operational costs. As shown in third-party thermal studies, there is almost zero air leakage owing to the unique design and superior insulation.

Is the ice-making plant energy-efficient?

An energy-efficient Halo Carbon system is included. Should circumstances warrant, alternative systems can be supplied.

Vandalism is no different with a Sprung Performance Arena than with any other building, and your arena will include an 8 ½-foot-high Sprung Shield vandal-proof Hard-Wall system.

Can the membrane be cut with a knife?

Your Sprung Performance Arena is protected with an 8 ½-foot-high Sprung Shield vandal-proof Hard-Wall system.

How do I know if my community needs an arena?

Your Sprung Performance Arena team is able to provide you with a Community Needs Assessment.

How much does it cost?

Sprung Performance Arenas are available as a single arena for approximately $6 million, or a twin arena for approximately $12 million. The turnkey price includes everything except permits, utility hookups and site work outside the structure itself. Other items usually chosen by personal preference are not included: telephone system, security system, sound system and score clock.

Can you provide a total turnkey price?

Yes. Once your site is established, we can provide you with a maximum turnkey price.

How do we tender the project?

Your Sprung Performance Arena team handles the entire tender process for you. It ensures that the design is tendered at the most cost-effective price.

Who oversees the project?

Once a contractor is chosen, we monitor the project throughout construction to ensure quality is never compromised.

How much money would our community save?

In addition to significant energy savings after construction, your Sprung Performance Arena will cost 25% to 40% less to build than conventional arena construction.

Is alternate private financing or grant money available?

A lease for your Sprung Performance Arena is available. There are various sources of funding, which can be examined on a case-by-case basis.

Is this a long-term solution for our community?

Does the arena meet the building code for climatic conditions?

All Sprung structures are designed and engineered on a site-specific basis for wind, snow and seismic. Drawings and design calculations sealed by a professional engineer are provided. Sprung structures have been successfully permitted around the world for high-occupancy applications including sports and recreation, education, churches, gaming, correctional facilities, hospitality and more.

What architectural features of the building make it superior?

As shown at over 12,000 installations worldwide, Sprung structures benefit from lower capital costs, lower energy demands and lower life cycle costs. Built with a 20+ year performance architectural membrane with a non-corroding aluminum sub-structure, the Sprung Performance Arena also features exceptional durability and proven long-term performance.

Can the arena be expanded?

What level of ice quality can we expect?

The Sprung structure™s highly tensioned exterior performance architectural membrane provides a building envelope that is virtually airtight. Add a thicker 9-inch layer of insulation and your Sprung Performance Arena provides you with a highly energy-efficient environment that keeps the ambient temperature consistent. The ice plant is sized to allow for premium-quality NHL calibre ice and year-round use.

Are the locker rooms adequate?

There are 6 locker rooms per ice surface in a Sprung Performance Arena. Each is sized to accommodate a full team, and can also accommodate a separate girls’ change-room.

Can we hold other events in the building?

The structured, engineered ice surface can be removed and can easily accommodate other events in your Sprung Performance Arena such as trade shows, entertainment and more. The high open-vaulted ceiling, phenomenal acoustics and soft-wall interior provide an outstanding interior atmosphere for any large assembly.
